Dumbledores Army was a group thought up by Hermione Granger, but lead by Harry Potter.

Dumbledores Army was created to give students at Hogwarts a chance to actually learn somthing in their 5th year. Since Dolores Umbridge was teaching their class and having them do nothing but read a lousy book all period.

This group had a few meetings before it was discovered by Dolores Umbridge and her inquisitorial squad. Most of the members got free but a lot were caught and brought up to Dumbledores office. This is where Dumbledore disappeared to save Harry, Hermione, and Ron from being expelled. He lied and told them that it was his group and that night was the first meeting. Hence the name Dumbledores Army, even though it was really Harry and Hermione's idea!
