Hogwarts was founded by the four greatest witches and wizards of the age;

-Godric Gryffindor
-Rawena Ravenclaw
-Helga Hufflepuff
-Salazar Slytherin

Godric, Rawena, and Helga didn't really mind what type of studens joined the school and were taught magic. But salazar slytherin wished to be more selective about who is to join the school. He only wanted "purebloods" to be taught. So he left. Leaving behind a chamber which held somthing that would one day come out and purge the school of all non-pure bloods.

From the day that all of them left the school they have made it to where there are basicly two head people of the school...the Headmaster and Assistant Headmaster or Mistresses..and all of the students are sorted into the individual houses by a hat that Godric Gryffindor left behind that can look into the students minds and see if they have the courage, intellegence, boldness, or crazyness to be in any of the houses..of cource all are accepted but into houses they might not expect.
