Here is a list of very good free hosts from around the web.

Angelfire: Not a very good hosting option, but if you are really desperate, go here.

Trap 17 Free Web Hosting!: Free PHP, Perl enabled Web Hosting with Unlimited MySQL Databases,Pop3 emails, forwarders, Add-on & Parked domains support. 50-250 MB space with 5 GB BW. 99.9% Uptime guaranteed. Latest Cpanel w/ Fantastico.

Trap17.Net: The same as Trap 17, only you don't need to post in the forums. However, they do place a banner ad on the top of all your pages.

BraveNet: This free host has probably gained most of its popularity not from its hosting, but from its multitude of website addons that can be used on any website. That is, you don't have to be signed up with their hosting to use them (unlike GeoCities)

Byethost: They offer several plans, all offering at least 20 GB Bandwidth and all offer 100 MB Space or more. One plan also gives you 20 MySQL databases. The promise the world, but they really do not deliver. This free host flat out stinks.

FreeWebs: This host is not much different than the others. It doesn't allow remote linking of buttons, also like the rest. Ads and URLS: 1) FreeWebs puts a banner on the top of your page. 2) FreeWebs uses one subfolder, such as http://www.freewebs.com/yoursitename/.

Geocities: This free hosting service is one of my favorites. The FileManager and Easy Uploader are so easy to work with, unlike the others listed here which are much to condensed to use on a large scale. Ads and URLS: 1) Geocities uses a banner which goes over your page for a few seconds then minimizes. 2) Geocities uses one directory or subfolder, such as http://www.geocites.com/yoursitename/, rather than subdomains. Geocities is a part of the Yahoo! network.

Portland Communications: This hosting service is certainly not your run of the mill free host like the others here. There are no nasty advertisements, and it uses an easy to remember subdomain, such as http://yoursitename.port5.com/. Also, this host uses FTP, rather than browser uploading like the others, which is actually a nice change

Tripod: I didn't like this one as much as Geocities. Ads and URLS: 1) Tripod allows you the option of using pop-up ads rather than ads on the top of the page. 2) Tripod gives you a subdomain address, such as http://yoursitename.tripod.com/. Tripod is a part of the Lycos network.
